For many of us, some of our dearest childhood memories are associated with our favorite storybooks. They had an indelible charm that influenced our thoughts, our perceptions and perhaps our behavior. They took us to places we’ve never been and maybe where magic even exists. They opened doors to vivid imaginations, daydreams, make belief and endless possibilities. They teach empathy, ethics and not to be afraid to show our emotions. And they introduced us to endearing characters that we will love for a lifetime.
The onset of the 20th century — the Edwardian era — saw an influx of children’s stories that had a big impact on young readers. These very stories still thrive and entertain us today, and new copies are reprinted for the next generation. Here are a few of my very favorite illustrated classic stories!
