The season of out of town visitors and early morning are upon us, along with long conversation over a cup of tea or coffee. One of my favorite things to have with coffee and tea is the Dutch Stroopwaffel. The Stroopwaffel is a waffle cookie that is chewy, and syrup flavored. The Stroopwaffel is not only tasty, but simple. The ingredients are simple and include wheat flour, sugar, butter, whole eggs, molasses, sea salt, cinnamon, baking soda, palm fruit oil, soy lecithin. There is no corn syrup, no preservatives, and no trans fats contained therein, Also, if kept at room temperature or cooler, these have a one year shelf life – not that they will last that long.
