Ayoba-Yo is a family owned company that was cooked up in our kitchen a few years after we moved to the United States from South Africa. It was an idea that marinated over the first few years, as we came to realize that the part of South Africa we missed the most was the food. More specifically, we missed the Biltong and Droëwors. We saw that these products were hard to come by in the US and that there is an ever growing demand for them, so we decided to take our family recipe products out of our kitchen and into the marketplace.
Biltong is similar to jerky but vastly different. Our biltong starts with the finest cuts of beef that are spiced to perfection using an old family recipe, marinated, and air dried for over fourteen days. Typical beef jerky tends to be either rock hard or soaked in sugar, instead our drying method leaves the biltong naturally tender with 0% sugar and no artificial ingredients or flavors. Droëwors is an artisanal dried beef stick that is made with 100% ground beef that is blended together with our family recipe spices, carefully stuff it into a natural casing and hung to dry, it’s that simple. The result is a delicious treat that makes the perfect road trip or adventure snack. It is also high in protein and contains no sugar.
