Breaking Glass Pictures is proud to announce the North American release of writer-director Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson’s visually stunning, coming-of-age drama HEARTSTONE. Breaking Glass acquired rights to the film during the Berlin International Film Festival in a deal negotiated between Breaking Glass CEO Rich Wolff and Gabor Greiner of Films Boutique. Described as a “well-acted, visually atmospheric debut” (The Hollywood Reporter) that “maps the subtle, even subconscious, strain” (Variety) of blossoming adulthood, HEARTSTONE premiered at the Venice Film Festival where it received the “Queer Lion” award.
HEARTSTONE held its US premiere at the Chicago International Film Festival where it won the Q Hugo award, and went on to play numerous festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, and Goteborg where it received the “Lorens” Award. In a remote fishing village in Iceland. teenage boys Thor and Christian experience a turbulent summer as one tries to win the heart of a girl while the other discovers new feelings toward his best friend. When summer ends and the harsh nature of Iceland takes back its rights, it’s time to leave the playground and face adulthood.
